Richard Lang

Richard is a technical leader specialising in software engineering and DevOps, with more than two decades of experience in architecture, delivery and operational decision-making. He combines hands-on development with platform engineering to help organisations build, deploy and operate scalable, reliable systems.

His recent work at the UK Hydrographic Office has included technical investigations, cloud-modernisation and platform work across solution design, migration, operational readiness and production support. He works with architects, stakeholders and delivery teams to resolve complex infrastructure, platform and integration challenges while maintaining a strong engineering presence.

Previously, Richard helped deliver cloud-native engineering and DevOps initiatives at PureGym, developing reusable deployment patterns, platform enhancements and event-driven services. His practical experience includes Azure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation and dependable containerised delivery.

Across his career, Richard has led engineering teams, mentored developers and improved delivery practices through automation and testing. He brings a balanced view of software quality: sound architecture, clear operational ownership and continuous improvement through the full lifecycle of a service.
